UK & Irish Property Trends
The UK Halifax (HBOS) house price index shot up 1.4% in November after a 1.1% revised gain in October (1.2% originally) to leave prices down just 1.6% year on year on a 3 month rolling basis after an annual decline of 4.7% in October . Prices have risen by an average of 5.6% over the last 6 months and are up 4.2% year to date (according to my own calculations). With a drop of 2.2% in December 2008, prices should end the year at least 5% ahead.
The UK Nationwide consumer confidence index came in at a level of 73 in November, a similar level to October..
Irish house prices declined by an average of 13.9% year on year in October following a 13.1% annual decline in September.
